Concerts
End of Year Recording from FHS Jazz Collective
We are happy to share a recording of “Sunny” by the Jazz Collective.
Originally performed at the instrumental concert in May this track was re-recorded firstly with the rhythm section playing together and then the horns being added one by one.
After mixing the track the group was gathered again to record the video footage to fit with the track.
Enjoy “Sunny” performed by Jazz Collective 2023.
Instrumental and Vocal Concert 2023
On May 18, our instrumental and vocal concert was held, showcasing an incredible lineup of talented musicians and singers. The event featured an array of musical groups, including the Jazz Collective, the FHS Vocal Group, our Guitar Groups, the KS4 Electric Band, the Woodwind Ensemble, and several individual soloists.
The concert was expertly hosted by Nathan and Jacob, who added an extra layer of charm and enthusiasm to the evening and ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for both the performers and the audience.
The Jazz Collective set the tone for the evening with their captivating improvisations and set the tone for the groups to follow. Overall the evening’s repertoire ranged from jazz standards, The Muppets, Rock, Classical, and Contemporary Pop.
We also enjoyed a number of solo performances that allowed each musician to shine in their own right, captivating the audience with their heartfelt performances.
Overall, both the performers and the audience had a great experience, making it a night to remember for everyone involved.
Winter Recital 2022
We were pleased see a number of our instrumentalists taking part in our final instrumental recital of the year. With solo performances and a few (Christmas) songs from the vocal group it was a great way to bring the term to a close and get ready for the holiday.
There will be a Key Stage 3 instrumental and vocal recital on May 18th which will be open to parents so we hope to see some of these musicians again on a larger stage.
Well done to all of the performers that took part!
Summer Recital Success
Our final lunchtime music recital before the summer was held on July 7th. There were performances by clarinet, saxophone, piano, guitar and drums as well as a debut performance from our string group who performed the piece Chillax.
An enthusiastic lunchtime crowd enjoyed the music and we shared thoughts and ideas on preparation and how to tackle performance nerves before going on stage. Hopefully these will concerts will be great preparation for our boys as they move on to larger events and performances.
The recital was recorded and video links will be sent out to parents of all performers before the break.
Well done to all of the boys involved and thank you to our wonderful instrument tuition team that has been working hard to get the musicians prepared.
Informal lunchtime concerts will return in the Winter term.
FHS Woodwind Group Take To The Stage
Just before the half term break our thriving woodwind group performed at a community concert for the Metropolitan Police held at the Perry Rise Baptist Church. The theme was celebration, and the group chose three uplifting pieces to open the concert.
Alongside their woodwind tutor Ms. Viola the group performed Oye Como Va, Jazz Samba, and a traditional blues. Well done to Jim, Jackson, William, Oscar, Jake, and Seby for your commitment to working together in your weekly rehearsals and bringing it together so well in the performance.
